Privacy Policy — AI Summarizer
Last updated: July 13, 2026
Summary
AI Summarizer summarizes web pages for you entirely on your own device. It has no account system, it does not track you, and it does not send the pages you read to any server or to us. The only optional network feature is a one-time Pro upgrade, handled by a third-party payment provider. Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
How it works
When you click "Summarize This Page," the extension reads the text of the page you're currently on, condenses it into a few key points using a summarizing engine that runs inside your browser, and shows the result in the popup. The page text is processed on your device and is not transmitted anywhere.
What data is stored
Everything AI Summarizer keeps is stored in your browser's local storage, on your own computer:
- Summaries you choose to save
- A short-lived count of how many summaries you've made today (used only to show your daily allowance; older days are cleared automatically)
- Your preferences, such as your chosen summary length
- Whether this browser has the optional Pro upgrade
This information stays on your device. It is not uploaded, synced to us, or shared.
What AI Summarizer does NOT do
- It does not create an account or ask you to sign in.
- It does not send the pages you read, or your summaries, to any server or to us.
- It does not track your browsing, build a profile of you, or use advertising or analytics networks.
- It does not sell or share your data with anyone. There is nothing to sell — your content never leaves your device.
Payments (optional Pro)
AI Summarizer is yours to use. If you'd like Pro — unlimited daily summaries and the longer "Detailed" summary length — it is a one-time purchase of $5.99. That is a single payment, not a subscription: there is nothing to renew and nothing to cancel.
Payments are handled by ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com), a third-party service, together with its payment processor, Stripe. When you upgrade, you use their secure checkout; your card details are entered on their systems, not ours, and we never see or store your payment information. ExtensionPay records whether this browser has paid so the extension can unlock Pro. Please see ExtensionPay's and Stripe's own privacy policies for how they handle payment data.
Permissions explained
The extension asks for the smallest set of permissions it needs:
- activeTab — lets the extension read the page in your current tab, but only at the moment you click Summarize.
- scripting — lets the extension pull the readable text out of that page so it can be summarized on your device.
- storage — lets the extension keep your saved summaries, your daily count, and your preferences in your browser's local storage.
- Host access to
https://extensionpay.com/*— used only for the optional Pro upgrade and to check whether this browser already has Pro. It is not used for the pages you browse.
Data retention
Your saved summaries and preferences remain in your browser until you remove them — you can delete any saved summary from within the extension, or clear the extension's storage. The daily-usage count clears older days on its own. Uninstalling the extension removes its local data from your browser.
Children
AI Summarizer is a general-purpose reading tool. It is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect any personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change with it. Because the extension keeps your data on your own device, any update will keep that same privacy-first approach.
