Privacy Policy — Focus Mode

Focus Mode ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that pairs a Pomodoro timer with a customizable tool that gently pauses distracting sites during your focus sessions. This Privacy Policy explains what the Extension does, and does not do, with your information.

Summary

Focus Mode keeps your focus data — your list of sites to pause, your timer preferences, and your statistics — stored locally in your own browser. It does not require an account, does not run analytics, and does not track your browsing. The one routine external contact is an anonymous plan check with ExtensionPay (ExtPay) that simply tells the Extension whether you are on the Free or Pro plan; it sends no personal information. If you choose the optional Pro upgrade, payment is handled by ExtensionPay and Stripe (see Payments below). Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.

How it works

When you start a focus session, the Extension redirects the sites you have chosen to a calm local page for the length of the session, then lets them load again during your break. The timer, the site list, and your stats all run on your device. Nothing about your sessions or the pages you visit is sent to us.

What data the Extension handles

The Extension stores the following on your device only, using Chrome's local storage:

• Your list of sites to pause during focus sessions.
• Your timer preferences (which preset you use).
• Session statistics (total focus time, completed sessions, daily streaks).

That is the entire dataset, and it never leaves your browser.

What the Extension does NOT do

• Does not collect your name, email, or any account information.
• Does not transmit your data to any server we own or operate.
• Does not sell your data to anyone, and shares data with third parties only to process an optional payment (see Payments below).
• Does not use cookies or analytics services.
• Does not track your browsing across the web.
• Does not read the content of the pages you visit.

Payments (optional Pro)

Focus Mode is yours to use. It offers a single optional upgrade — Pro — which unlocks an unlimited number of your own sites to pause. Pro is a one-time purchase of $5.99. It is not a subscription: you pay once and it is yours to keep, with nothing to renew or cancel.

To know whether you are on the Free or Pro plan, the Extension uses ExtensionPay (ExtPay). ExtPay stores an anonymous identifier in your browser and checks your plan status with its server (extensionpay.com). This check runs for all users, including free ones, and sends no personal information about you — no email, no card details, and nothing about the pages you visit.

If you choose to buy Pro, the payment is processed by ExtensionPay and Stripe. The information you enter to pay (such as your email and card details) is handled directly by those providers under their own privacy policies — we never see or store your card number. If you do not buy Pro, no payment information is collected.

Permissions explained

• storage — saves your site list, timer preferences, and stats locally on your device.
• alarms — runs the focus and break timers in the background.
• notifications — shows a desktop message when a session or break ends.
• declarativeNetRequest — during an active focus session, redirects the sites you have added to a local page. Only the exact domains you choose are matched. The Extension does not record which sites you tried to visit.
• Host access to all sites (<all_urls>) — used only so the redirect rules above can send a site you have chosen to the local pause page, and to load that local page. There is no script that reads or runs on the ordinary pages you browse; the only content script is limited to extensionpay.com for the plan check.
• Host access to https://extensionpay.com/* — used only for the anonymous plan check and, if you choose it, the optional Pro payment described under Payments.

Data retention and deletion

Your data stays in your browser until you clear it inside the Extension or uninstall the Extension. Uninstalling removes everything the Extension has stored. We hold no copy on our side, because none was ever sent to us.

Children's privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at the same public address with a new "Last updated" date.
