Privacy Policy — Price Tracker

Price Tracker ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that helps you keep an eye on product prices on supported shopping websites. This Privacy Policy explains what data the Extension handles and how.

Summary

Price Tracker keeps everything on your device, in your browser's local storage. It does not send your data to any server we run, does not require an account, and does not share your information with third parties.

How it works

When you click "Track Price" on a supported product page, the Extension saves that product so it can watch the price for you. Every few hours it quietly re-checks the prices of your tracked items, and if one drops it shows you a desktop alert. All of this happens on your own device.

What data the Extension handles

When you track a product, the Extension stores the following on your device only (using Chrome's local storage):

• The product page URL
• The product title and image (as shown on the page)
• The current price and the price history collected since you started tracking
• Your plan status (free or Pro) and tracking preferences

The Extension also reads price information from the product pages of the supported retailers (Amazon, eBay, Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Etsy, AliExpress, Newegg, Home Depot, and Costco) so it can notice price changes.

What the Extension does NOT do

• Does not collect your name, email, or any account information.
• Does not transmit your tracked items or browsing data to any server we own or operate.
• Does not share or sell your data to third parties.
• Does not use cookies or analytics services.
• Does not follow your browsing across the web.

Payments (optional Pro)

Price Tracker is yours to use, with the option to unlock unlimited tracking through a one-time purchase of $8.99. This is a single payment — not a subscription. There is no monthly fee and nothing to renew.

The purchase is handled by ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com), a third-party payment service that works with Stripe. When you choose to upgrade, ExtensionPay processes the payment and simply tells the Extension whether your purchase is confirmed. Your card details are entered on ExtensionPay's and Stripe's own secure pages — the Extension never sees or stores your payment information. Please see ExtensionPay's and Stripe's own privacy policies for how they handle payment data. If you never upgrade, no payment information is involved at all.

Permissions explained

• storage — saves your tracked items and plan status locally in the browser.
• alarms — schedules the periodic price checks (about every six hours).
• notifications — shows a desktop alert when a tracked price drops.
• host access to the supported retailers (Amazon, eBay, Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Etsy, AliExpress, Newegg, Home Depot, and Costco) — required to read price information from those product pages.
• host access to https://extensionpay.com/* — used for ExtensionPay's anonymous plan check (which runs for all users and sends no personal information) and, if you choose it, the optional one-time Pro purchase.

Data retention and deletion

Your tracked items stay in your browser until you remove them inside the Extension popup or until you uninstall the Extension. Uninstalling removes all data the Extension has stored on your device. We have no copy of it on our side, because none was ever sent to us.

Children's privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If this policy is updated, the new version will be posted at the same public URL with a revised "Last updated" date.
