Questions people ask
What do I get for free? The whole Local desk, for fourteen days. The trial is a real App Store item at no charge, it ends on its own, and nothing is charged when it does. The app tells you how long it lasts and what the purchase costs before the trial starts.
What happens when the trial ends? What you made stays yours. You can still open, read, search, copy, export and print your notes, scans and PDFs. Only new work waits for the purchase: a new note or scan, a new event or reminder, filling in a form. Each skill shows one line saying so, with an Unlock button beside it.
What does the purchase include? Everything on the desk, for good. One payment, no renewal, and it covers iPhone, iPad and Mac together. Later skills are added to it at no extra charge.
What is Individual Cloud, and do I need it? No. The desk is complete without it. Cloud is a separate subscription for the one thing a device cannot do alone: asking across more documents than the on-device model can hold, summarising a long document, and asking at all on a device without Apple Intelligence. Everything else stays on your device, and Local never gets worse when Cloud is off.
Is there a free trial of Cloud? No, and that is deliberate: a week of free requests costs real money whether or not someone stays. Instead you get three short tries, on the device, without a card and with nothing to cancel. Each try is a real send, shown to you first, and it needs no subscription. After the third, the app says so once and offers the Cloud screen. It never nags.
What does a Cloud subscription include each month? Up to 1,000 cloud-processed pages and 200 cloud answers. There is no overage charge and nothing is ever billed beyond the subscription. When either runs out, cloud sends stop until the allowance renews and everything on your device keeps working. The allowance counts from the day you first subscribed and renews on that day each month, for yearly subscriptions too.
How do I cancel Cloud? Through Apple, in Settings or the App Store, like any subscription. Cancelling turns off renewal; Cloud keeps working until the end of the period you paid for. Everything on your device stays yours, and Local works exactly as before.
How do I get Business or Enterprise? Apply from inside the app, on the Plans screen. It is a form, not a call: the organization and its website, your name and role, a work email at the organization's own domain, roughly how many people, the region, and what you need. We read it and answer by email. There are no sales calls.
Some skills are missing on my device. A few skills need Apple's on-device model, which only some recent devices have. On a device without it, those skills are not offered, and the app says so in one line rather than showing a version that does not work. Everything else on the desk works.
Where do my notes live? They are plain text files. By default they sit in the app's own folder on this device; on iPhone and iPad that folder shows in the Files app under Eden Desk. You can point the app at a folder you choose instead, including one in your own iCloud Drive if you want them on your other devices. Either way they are your files: open them with any app, move them, or delete them.
Why can the Mac find more of my files than my iPhone? On the Mac you can hand the app any folder and it searches inside it. On iPhone and iPad, Apple only lets an app see the folders you pick in Files, so Find files searches those. The app says exactly that on the phone rather than pretending.
I paid, and the app still says locked. Tap Unlock in any skill, or use the trial screen, then Restore purchase. That asks the App Store to confirm it. If that does not work, write to us with the Apple Account email you bought it with.
Will my PDF print at the right size? Yes. Pages export at true size. Print at 100 percent, with any "scale to fit" or "fit to page" option turned off.
Does the app collect anything about me? No. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and there is nothing we receive about you. With Cloud off, which is how every install starts, nothing leaves your device at all. The only code that can reach the network lives in one separate module for Individual Cloud, which does nothing until you subscribe, switch Cloud on, and send one item after seeing it. The Privacy page explains what the app stores on your own device, and the Data Receipt says, in short sections, what stays and what leaves.
How do I delete everything? Deleting the app removes the search index, your appearance choice and the app's own folder. Notes you kept in a folder you chose stay where you put them, because they are your files.
