Last updated: 1 October 2026

Gentle Day syncs through your family's own iCloud, with no Eden Apps server. Eden Apps cannot see your events, your messages or your photos.

Gentle Day is made by Eden Apps, a sole proprietor based in Texas, USA. The app carries a shorter version of this policy, under Privacy.

What Gentle Day keeps

  • The day you set up: events (what, when, how often, and an optional note), the family message and its optional photo, the display settings (the look at night and the reminder chime), and the name and time zone you enter for the person you care for.
  • Display check ins: each paired display writes the name you gave it, its time zone, the app version, when it last checked in, and a random id that Gentle Day made for that display. The caregiver's phone shows this, so you can see the display is working.
  • On each device: a copy of the above, so a display keeps showing the day without a connection; the caregiver PIN, kept only as a salted hash; which reminders have already been shown; and the last known state of your subscription.

Where it is kept

Before you pair a display, the day you set up is kept on your phone. Once you pair, it is kept in the iCloud account of the caregiver who set up the care circle, using Apple's CloudKit, and shared with the displays and people you invite. Eden Apps has no server for Gentle Day.

The content of events, the message and the settings is stored with iCloud's end to end encryption, using keys kept in your iCloud Keychain. The photo is stored as an iCloud file, which Apple encrypts; with Advanced Data Protection turned on, it is also end to end encrypted. A few details that iCloud needs in order to sync, such as when a change was made and by which device's random id, are stored without end to end encryption.

Apple's handling of iCloud data is described in Apple's privacy policy.

Who can see it

  • The caregiver who set up the care circle.
  • The people and displays the caregiver invites. When sending the link, the caregiver can instead choose that anyone with the link can join.
  • The caregiver can remove anyone's access at any time. A removed display keeps what it last received until it is set up again.

Eden Apps cannot see any of it.

Photos

You choose a photo with the photo picker that iOS provides, which hands Gentle Day only the photo you pick. Gentle Day redraws it at most 1600 pixels on its longest side, so the copy it keeps carries no location or camera details.

Reminders and alarms

Reminder cards and the chime come from the display itself. If you choose notifications or alarms as a backup in the display's settings, iOS asks for permission first, and they are scheduled on the display device. They are not sent through any server.

Purchases

Gentle Day Plus is bought and managed through your Apple Account. Apple takes care of payment, and your card details never reach the app. Gentle Day only learns whether your subscription is active, in a free trial, or ended.

No tracking

Gentle Day has no analytics, no crash reporting service, no advertising and no tracking of any kind, and it contains no code from other companies. The only services it talks to are Apple's iCloud and the App Store. We don't sell your personal information or use it for third-party advertising, and there is no data on our side to sell. Gentle Day has no AI features.

Deleting your data

  • Deleting an event or the message on the caregiver's phone removes it from every paired display.
  • Deleting the app removes what it stored on that device.
  • The caregiver can remove the care circle from iCloud in the Settings app: your name, then iCloud, then Manage Storage (or Storage), then Gentle Day.

Children

Gentle Day is not directed at children, and Eden Apps collects no information about anyone who uses it, at any age.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new date above.
