At the counter
Tap Start pickup walkaround before anything else. The details (company, agreement number, plate, due-back time) can wait until you are in the driver's seat. The walkaround shows one angle at a time. Take the photo and it moves on by itself. Skip any angle you cannot reach, such as the roof, and come back to it from All angles.
What the time stamp means
The time printed on each photo comes from this device's clock, at the moment the app saved the photo. It is a helpful record, not a certified one: a device clock can be changed, and no app can promise how a rental company will decide a damage charge. Photos help most when they are sharp, well lit, and taken before you drive off and right after you park.
Photos from your library
If the camera cannot be used, choose a photo from your library for each angle. Those photos are marked "Added from Photos" with the time you added them, because the app cannot vouch for when they were taken.
Fuel and odometer
After the dashboard photo, tap the fuel level on the gauge and type the odometer reading. You can change both later on the rental screen. The PDF shows pickup and return side by side, with the distance driven.
Damage pins (Pro)
On the rental screen, tap the car diagram where you see a ding, scratch, or chip. Add a short note and a close-up photo. Putting a key or a coin next to the mark shows its size.
Due-back reminders
Each rental can remind you before it is due back (two hours before, unless you choose another time) and again at the due-back time. Reminders stop once you finish the return. The app asks to send notifications only when you set up a reminder: when you save a rental's details with its due-back time, change the reminder settings, or tap Allow notifications on the rental screen. Starting a walkaround never asks.
The PDF
Tap Make the PDF. Page one has the rental details, fuel and odometer, the checklist, and the car diagram. Then there is one page for each angle, with the pickup photo above the return photo. With Pro, the damage pins and close-ups follow. Share it by email or save it to Files.
Free and Pro
The free version has the full walkaround at pickup and return, fuel and odometer, reminders, the checklist, and the PDF. It keeps one rental at a time, and its PDF has a small footer line. Local Car Rental Check Pro keeps every trip, adds damage pins with close-ups, and makes the PDF without the footer line. Pro is a one-time purchase.
Restoring your purchase
Open Settings in the app and choose Restore Purchases. Pro comes back on any iPhone or iPad signed in with the Apple Account you bought it with.
