On the App Store, Givebook is listed as Givebook: Donation Tracker.

Logging a gift

Tap Log a Gift on the Overview. Enter the amount, choose who it went to, the cause and how you gave it. A note and a photo of the charity's letter are optional. Tap any gift later to change it or delete it.

Causes

The ledger starts with Food & Shelter, Health & Medical Research, Education, Human & Civil Rights, Animals, Environment & Climate, International Relief, Veterans & Military, and Other. In More, Causes, you can rename them, reorder them, remove the ones you do not use, or add your own.

Goals

With Pro, the Goals screen compares your giving with your income. Enter your income as paychecks or as one line for the year. Then choose one overall goal, a percent of your income, and every gift in your home currency counts toward it. You can also give any cause a goal of its own, or leave it at 0. The numbers are yours; the app only does the math.

Letters for gifts of $250 or more

US tax rules ask you to keep a written acknowledgment from the charity for any single gift of $250 or more. Gifts in US dollars to recipients marked as qualifying charities are listed in Tax Records. Tick Letter received when the letter arrives, and add a photo of it to the gift if you like.

If you take the standard deduction

From tax year 2026, people who do not itemize can deduct cash gifts to many charities, up to $1,000, or $2,000 for married couples filing jointly. Tax Records shows how much of that you have given. Gifts of goods, gifts to people, gifts with no recipient chosen and gifts to donor advised funds are left out. Mark a recipient as a donor advised fund, or as not a qualifying charity, in its details. Some other organizations, such as private foundations, do not count either, and the app cannot tell them apart, so check with a tax professional.

Charity driving

Add each trip you drive for a charity in Tax Records. Miles are counted at the statutory rate of 14 cents a mile.

These are records, not tax advice

The app keeps your records in order. It does not give tax advice. IRS Publication 526, Charitable Contributions, explains the rules, including which organizations qualify, at irs.gov/pub526. A tax professional can help with your situation.

Different currencies

Every gift keeps the currency you logged it in. Each currency gets its own total, and the app never converts between them. Amounts keep the decimal places their currency uses, such as three for Kuwaiti dinars. Tax records count gifts in US dollars only.

Getting your records out

In More, Export and Backup, you can save a year statement as CSV and your charity driving as CSV, for any year. Gift notes stay out of the CSV unless you turn on Include gift notes. With Pro you can also save the year statement as a PDF. Save a Backup puts everything in one file, letter photos included.

Setting up another device

Save a backup first. Then, on the other device, open Givebook, go to More, Export and Backup, and choose Add from a Backup. Nothing already on that device changes, except goals left at 0, which take their percent from the backup. A recipient with the same name and EIN as one already there is joined to it.

Pro

The free version covers this year and last year: logging and changing gifts, totals, tax records and letters. CSV exports and backups are free for every year. Pro adds the PDF statement, the years before last year, recurring gifts and giving goals. Pro is a one-time purchase. To turn it on for another iPhone or iPad that uses your Apple Account, open More and tap Restore Purchases.
