What this app is
Local Finance Manager records the figures you enter or import. It does not connect to any bank or financial service, it does not move money, and it does not give financial, investment, or tax advice. What the figures mean, and what to do about them, is yours to decide or to take to someone qualified.
Getting your transactions in
Choose a statement file you have saved, then add it to Local Finance Manager. For a CSV, you choose which column holds the date, description and amount. With Pro, Local Finance Manager can remember that mapping as a profile for the bank. OFX and QFX are the same statement format, and QFX is the Quicken-format version of it.
Adding the same dates twice
People often download an overlapping date range, so the same line arrives again. Before anything is added, Local Finance Manager lists what it would add and what it would skip. A line counts as already there when its date, its amount, and its description match one on that account. If your statement really does hold two identical payments on one day, both are kept.
Amounts and dates that look odd
The app reads amounts written with a currency symbol, thousands separators, a comma decimal point, parentheses for a negative, or a trailing minus. If your bank writes money out as a positive number, choose that on the mapping screen. If a date like 03/09/2026 could be read two ways, choose the order your bank uses; the app cannot know it on its own.
Transfers between your own accounts
Add one as a transfer rather than two separate transactions. Local Finance Manager writes both sides at once and marks them as one movement, so the money is not counted as spending on one side or income on the other, and no report counts it twice.
Splitting one transaction
Open a transaction and choose Split across categories. The parts always add up to the whole: Local Finance Manager will not save a split that does not, and Save turns on when the remainder reaches zero.
Moving to a new phone
Open More and choose Back up everything. Save the file to iCloud Drive or another place you can reach from the new phone. On the new phone, install Local Finance Manager, open More, and choose Restore a backup. The backup holds every account and every year, and it is not locked with a password. Anyone who has the file can see your whole ledger, so keep it somewhere private.
Free, and Local Finance Manager Pro
The free version covers two accounts, the current and previous calendar year in the ledger view, CSV import, entering transactions by hand, categories, the overview, CSV export of everything, and full backup and restore. Local Finance Manager Pro adds unlimited accounts, every year of history in the ledger view, OFX and QFX import, saved import profiles, category rules, budgets, and PDF reports. Pro is a one-time purchase.
Your own records are never held back. CSV export and the full backup cover every account and every year, including the years the free ledger view does not list, and restoring a backup is never cut down to the free account limit.
Restoring your purchase
In More, choose Restore Purchases. Pro returns on every iPhone or iPad that uses the same Apple Account you bought it with.
