A good walkthrough
Go room by room in daylight, before your things are moved in if you can. Take a wide photo from the doorway, then close-ups of anything worn or damaged. Open cabinets, the oven, and the fridge. Write down what you see in plain words, like "two nail holes above the bed".
Photo times
Every photo keeps the time it was taken. A photo taken in the app uses this device's clock at that moment. A photo chosen from your library uses the date saved in the photo file, or the time you added it if the file has none. The stamp on each exported photo says which. A phone's clock can be changed, so a stamp is a clear, dated record to keep with your lease and messages, not proof on its own.
Sharing the report
Open Deposit, choose the walkthroughs to include, then Make condition report and Share. You can email it, print it, or save it to Files. Many tenants send the move-in report to their landlord or property manager soon after moving in and keep the reply.
The return request letter
Open Deposit and choose Return request letter. Fill in the fields, read the letter through, then share or copy it. This letter is a template, not legal advice. Deposit rules and deadlines differ by state and country. Check the rules where the home is, or ask a local tenant organization or legal aid office before relying on it.
Reminders
Enter the date your deposit is due back, from your lease or your local rules, and turn on reminders. The app reminds you 14 days, 7 days, and 1 day before, and on the day, at 9 in the morning.
Restoring your purchase
Open Settings in the app and choose Restore Purchases. Pro comes back on every iPhone or iPad signed in with the Apple Account you bought it with.
Free, and Local Move-In Report Pro
The free version covers one home: both walkthroughs, photos with their times, notes, deposit reminders, and the condition report, which carries a small "Made with Local Move-In Report" line at the foot of each page. Side by side comparison is open for the first two rooms, and the report always includes every room. Local Move-In Report Pro adds more homes, the comparison for every room, the report without that line, and the return request letter. It is a one-time purchase.
