Local Receipts keeps your receipts on your iPhone or iPad. There is no account and nothing to sign in to. The app does not send your photos, the text on them, or anything you type to us or to anyone else.
Local Receipts is made by Eden Apps, a sole proprietor based in Texas, USA. Inside the app, this policy is in More, under About.

What is kept, and where
- Each receipt photo you keep, after it has been straightened, plus a small preview of it.
- The details you enter or confirm: merchant, date, amounts, currency, category, payment method label, the business flag and your notes.
- The text read from each photo, so you can search it.
- Your categories and settings.
All of this lives in the app's storage area on your iPhone or iPad, which other apps cannot read. Deleting the app deletes it. If you back up your device with iCloud or with a computer, iOS includes this app's data in that backup, the same as it does for your other apps. That backup is between you and Apple.
The payment method field is a label, like "card ending 1234". If a long card number is typed in, the app keeps only its last four digits.
Camera and photos
The app's own camera view turns on only when you tap Use the camera, and turns off as soon as you take the photo, leave the screen, or switch away from the app. The photo is passed to the straightening step, inside the app. When you tap Choose a photo, iOS shows its own menu, which may also offer to take a photo with the system camera; either way the app receives only the one picture you choose or take. The app never asks for your whole library and never uses the microphone.
Reading the text
The text recogniser (Tesseract, reading English) is part of the app and runs on the iPhone or iPad itself. Your photo is not sent anywhere to be read. The suggestions it makes are only suggestions: every field stays yours to check and change.
Exports and backups
CSV files, PDF reports and backups are made by the app itself. The app hands each file to the share sheet, and you choose where it goes. The app's own temporary copy is removed once the sheet closes. Once a file leaves the app, it goes wherever you sent it, under that place's own rules.
The Pro purchase
Local Receipts Pro is a one-time purchase through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never see your card, your name or your email address. The app uses RevenueCat, a purchase service, to ask whether Pro has been bought on your Apple Account. That check is made by the app's native code, not by its screens, and it happens whether or not you have bought Pro.
What goes to RevenueCat: a random identifier RevenueCat makes for this installation; Apple's identifier for this app on this device (the "identifier for vendor": iOS gives the same one to apps from the same developer on one device, and it is not your Apple Account); your device model, iOS version and the app's version; your preferred languages and your App Store country; and, once you buy or restore, the App Store's record of the purchase. As with any connection, RevenueCat also sees your internet address. RevenueCat keeps the purchase record so that Pro can be restored later.
What never goes: your receipts, photos, the text read from them, amounts, merchants, notes, or anything else you typed.
When: when the app starts, when it comes back to the screen after a while in the background, when you open something that needs Pro, and when you buy or restore. RevenueCat's own handling is set out in its privacy policy.
What the app's screens can connect to
The app's main screen carries a Content Security Policy with connect-src 'self', so it cannot open a connection to any other server. Its privacy and help pages allow no connections at all. The purchase check described above is the one connection the app makes, and it is made outside the screens, which is why we name it here. You can check the rest yourself: turn on Airplane Mode and everything except buying or restoring Pro keeps working.
No tracking
Local Receipts carries no analytics and no advertising, and it does no tracking of any kind. Nothing about your receipts is collected, by us or by anyone else. The only data that leaves the device is the purchase check described above, which RevenueCat keeps as a purchase record, not linked to your name and not used to track you. We do not sell data.
Children
The app collects nothing about anyone's receipts, at any age. The purchase check described above works the same way for everyone.
Changes
If this changes, the date above changes with it, and anything new that uses the network will be described here before it ships.
