How reminders work

Each document can have up to four reminders: when the renewal window opens (the lead time), 30 days before, 7 days before, and on the expiry date. Reminders that fall on the same day are combined. Choose the time of day in More.

Suggested lead times

Every document type comes with a suggested lead time, such as 9 months for a passport. These are only suggestions, not official rules. Offices and countries set their own timelines, so check the official instructions for your document. With Pro you can choose your own lead time for each document.

After you renew

Open the document and choose Mark as renewed. Enter the new expiry date, and the reminders and the checklist start over for the new document.

Not seeing reminders

Open More and check that reminders are allowed. If they are off, choose Open Settings and turn on notifications for Local Renew. iOS holds up to 64 reminders per app at a time, so Local Renew schedules the soonest ones and adds the rest each time you open the app.

Moving to a new phone

Local Renew has no account and does not sync. Your list moves to a new phone when you restore the new phone from an iCloud or computer backup of the old one.

Restoring your purchase

In More, choose Restore Purchases. Pro returns on every iPhone or iPad that uses the same Apple Account you bought it with.

Free, and Local Renew Pro

The free version keeps up to three documents for you, with suggested lead times, reminders and checklists. Local Renew Pro adds unlimited documents, room to keep documents for the whole household (a partner, children, parents or siblings, each with their own list, all on your phone), the year view, and your own lead time for each document. It is a one-time purchase. If Pro is refunded, nothing is deleted.
